| Jim McBurney: This photo was
taken by "Scotty" Arscott back in 1955. Scotty owned and
operated the photo shop (at the old Ryback’s Dept. Store location) on
Gerritsen Ave. in the 60’s and 70’s and lived on Melba Court. The
pitcher is none other than Professor Ed Hughes of Gotham Ave., the batter
is unknown and the center fielder is Norman Johnsen (Philadelphia Phillies
organization 1963-66) of Melba Court. The 2nd base umpire is
"Sonny" Kornfeld, the son of Dave the owner of Kornfeld’s
delicatessen on Gerritsen Ave. In the background are the houses at the
intersection of Seba and Gerritsen, with Ficken’s grocery store barely
visible in the upper right corner. The scoreboard reads Rams 2 Hawks 0; it
