Estelle Witkowski:  This was my grandmother's home at 9 Ebony Court; we lived at 5 Ebony. The picture was taken in 1923. Notice that there was only sand between the homes. You could look forever between the houses. These homes were built without any insulation, no screens, no storms. Notice the glass panel door, the only protection against the elements. It was amazing and wonderful growing up in those days.
     The woman in the picture is Kathryn (Kitty) Haney (or Hanny), an aunt to Winnie and Jay Byrnes. Jack Cunningham and Winnie and Jay Byrnes were cousins. Jack's mother and Winnie's mother were Stewart sisters.  (Courtesy Estelle Witkowski)
