2321 and 2323 Knapp Street, ca.1947. The shared driveway. A few years later the tree, willow, was removed because its roots were invading the sewer pipes. Then the tiny garden in front of both houses was paved over, which gave us one of the largest flat areas on the block for gatherings and games. We played box ball, pitched pennies, played stoop games like red light-green light, and Simon says; running games like tag, hide and see'k and Ringalevio; and the king of games, jump rope.
