lowtide.jpg (11807 bytes)

Roland, Dad, and I (Ginny Holmes) ice skating on the Canal. This picture was taken at low tide around the winter of 1938 to 1940. We had to be careful of getting on the ice because it was so soft and broken around the boats and docks from the water level going up and down with the tides. We got on at the end of Fane Court, just around the corner from our home. It was great fun. Notice how few boats are docked back around 1940.  (Courtesy Ginny Holmes)
