| Marine Parkway bridge, postcard. The postcard must have been taken shortly after the bridge opened, because the view looks like it was taken from the Seaplane ramp at Floyd Bennett Field or near it. The postcard was printed by the Acacia Card Company at 258 Broadway, New York 7, N.Y. Now that is the old Zip Code area, so when did they change it to 112? The caption on the back reads: "The Marine Park Bridge over the Rockaway inlet connects Brooklyn with Jacob Riis Park and the Rockaways. The center span is constructed as a vertical lift" So maybe late 40's or early 50's from the wording in the description, is my guess (Courtesy Gerry Flynn) |
