OK, Mau Mau island was (is) the secret getaway, kind of a guys thing. It's where boys became men! And the way we did that was by jumping off of a 40 foot bridge that linked NYC trash dump. The island is located behind the "weeds", encircled by the Gerritsen canal. The garbage trucks got there off of Flatbush Avenue....Meadows beach is located a the end of Evertt Avenue, next to the old Paradise Yacht Club. Bill Theodorou, 16 Fane
