There used to be a riding academy near Knapp Street and Avenue V. It was called Ryan's Stable. Eventually it moved to Bergen Beach where the other stables were. People used to rent horses and ride up and down the fields near Gerritsen Creek.
There was also an Italian man with a herd of goats further down Knapp Street by Plumb Beach. We used to go to pet the goats.
